The Iltyem-iltyem project is part of the Northern Territory Language Support Program, at the Centre for Australian Languages and Linguistics, Batchelor Institute. NT Language Support is funded by the Commonwealth Government’s Indigenous Languages and Arts program (ILA).
The project is the result of long-term collaborations between Indigenous knowledge holders, Batchelor Institute and Jennifer Green, postdoctoral fellow in the Research Unit for Indigenous Language, University of Melbourne. Green’s postdoctoral work was supported by the Hans Rausing Endangered Languages Program (ELDP), by the Australian Research Council (DP110102767, DE160100873 and IN150100018) and by The Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language (CoEDL) (CE140100041). The recordings made by the Iltyem-iltyem project are archived at the Hans Rausing Endangered Languages Archive, and at AIATSIS, the Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (https://aiatsis.gov.au/collection/search-collection).
Batchelor Institute has received funding from the UNESCO International Decade of Indigenous Languages.
