All the Wilora recordings took place in the ‘signadome’ – a special purpose tent we have developed as a mobile recording studio. For this workshop we focused on Kaytetye, and began work with the Kaytetye picture dictionary. From this familiar resource we were able to elicit much core vocabulary in hand signs.
Hilda Nambulla is one of the language workers who contributed to the Kaytetye picture dictionary, which was published by IAD Press in 2004. The photo shows Hilda choosing vocabulary to record as sign language.
